A car for the people

ELON MUSK is right to recognise that many people want to own a Tesla, but simply can’t afford it.

Surely the answer is to reduce the cost of his cars until ownership becomes affordable.

Tesla would not be breaking new ground. Henry Ford accepted the principle 100 years ago when he cut the price of a Model T again and again until the ordinary man in the street could afford to drive.
