My heart breaks to be at the end of the road

-

I’ve known her now for many years.

Like me, she’s getting old. We must be past our sell-by dates,

If the truth be told.

In happy times and troubled times, Through gales and stormy weather,

She’s always been there by my side.

We’ve rolled through life together.

On Wednesdays, we go shopping

Or take a trip to town. She carries all the heavy bags

And never lets me down. Sometimes we have a day out And drive down to the sea, Or motor round the countryside

But back in time for tea. On visits to the hospital. She’s waited in the rain. She took me to the airport For my holiday in Spain. But sadly, as with all good things,

An end there has to be. The time has come to say goodbye.

She’s failed the MoT.
