The moment jogging Wills first set eyes on Kate... well, according to The Crown
THEY bonded as students over a shared love of sports.
So it is perhaps no surprise Kate Middleton and Prince William’s romance will blossom from a shared glance on a jog in the upcoming series of The Crown.
Actors Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy will play the young royals, recreating their time at St Andrews University in Fife, Scotland.
Pictures appearing to capture the moment the couple first noticed one another show McVey turning to look at Ms Bellamy as she jogs past him wearing a North Face tracksuit and white headphones.
William and Kate met in 2001 while studying at St Andrews, with the future king reportedly left in awe when Kate walked the runway of a student fashion show in a see- through dress that later sold for £78,000 at auction.
The couple started dating in 2004 before briefly splitting and reuniting within the space of a few months in 2007. Three years later, they announced their engagement and in 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey.
‘When I first met Kate, I knew there was something very special about her, and then I knew there was possibly something I wanted to explore there, but we ended up being friends for a while,’ William recalled in a 2010 engagement interview.
‘I do genuinely believe now that being friends with [each other] is a massive advantage.’ Kate, who studied history of art, previously revealed that she had felt ‘shy’ on first meeting William.
The upcoming sixth series of the Netflix drama will follow the Royal Family from the late 1990s through to the early 2000s.
Bosses have faced a continued onslaught from critics over allegations of sensationalism and inaccuracies.
Series six will be released later this year. It will mark Ms Bellamy’s first major acting role.
