THREE FRENCH STARS TO WATCH
ANTOINE DUPONT
The captain (below) is one of the world’s greatest players, with a freakish repertoire. The scrum-half makes breaks, scores tries, has a vast passing range, kicks well and is also a powerful defender and can jackal too.
GAEL FICKOU
What an impact the Racing centre has made in France’s revival under Fabien Galthie. He is adored by the defence coach Shaun Edwards as the man who organises and galvanises the team, but he is also an attacking force.
CHARLES OLLIVON
Known as ‘The Phenomenon’ or ‘The Boss’, the flanker is an influential figure, despite being usurped as captain by Dupont. Strong in defence and over the ball, with a handy tryscoring knack.
