Smith’s licence to thrill!

- By NIK SIMON

MARCUS SMITH has been challenged to light up the Twickenham crowd today in a huge Six Nations clash against France.

England have not lost a Six Nations match against today’s opponents in south-west London for 18 years, and have Smith starting at fly-half after Steve Borthwick’s bold call to drop captain Owen Farrell for the first time since 2015.

Anthony Watson, who starts on the left wing for England today, said of the 24-year-old Harlequins playmaker: ‘Marcus has that X-factor where he can spark a game into life. ‘He can create something from nothing, that’s what people tune in to watch. Fans want to see that type of thing and Marcus does it regularly.’
