Watch out, Gwynnie! Meghan’s rival wellness site set to go live
THE Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle blog The Tig may relaunch to rival Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, it emerged yesterday.
Meghan’s application to revive the website has reportedly won preliminary approval from US authorities, meaning it could relaunch within days.
Legal documents said the site would offer tips on ‘conscious living’ and ‘health and wellness’, along with recipes, relationship advice and comments on fashion, style and culture. And it could prove a lucrative venture for the duchess, with rival website Goop worth an estimated $250million (£208million).
Ms Paltrow launched Goop in 2008 as an email newsletter offering advice on ‘nourishing the inner aspect’. Goop now sells countless beauty and ‘wellness’ products, from sex toys to vagina-scented candles.
Meghan, 41, and husband Harry, 38, have profited from a series of deals since quitting as senior royals and moving to the US, including Harry’s memoir and the couple’s controversial Netflix series.
Meghan founded The Tig in 2014 while acting in legal drama Suits, but shut it down in 201 before her engagement to
Prince Harry was revealed. The Tig – named after her favourite red wine, Tignanello – contained candid photographs and interviews with celebrity friends, including tennis star Serena Williams.
In her book The Palace Papers, writer Tina Brown said Meghan had always hoped her blog could emulate the success of Goop, with Suits co-stars saying she was ‘always talking about’ Ms Paltrow’s site.
