VAN MORRISON is Cerys Matthews’s guest this evening, and he’s got a number of things he wants to talk about, including the history of skiffle. Skiffle was first played by African Americans on instruments made from cigar boxes, brooms, washboards and pretty much anything that could make a sound. Van (pictured) became a fan and, as he tells Cerys, this rough and ready music inspired his new album, Moving On Skiffle. We’ll hear songs from that album, plus classic Morrison tracks, on tonight’s show.
