Ings can’t haunt old club but it’s a jolly Ollie day!

- BY KIERAN GILL

HERE’s a pub quiz question for you: who was the last Premier League player to score for and against the same team in a single season? Answer: Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

He scored for Manchester United in the first half of the 2017-18 campaign, and then against them in the second half, after joining Arsenal. Danny Ings could not come back to haunt his old club here, however. West Ham’s £15million January signing made multiple good runs in behind but was never found by his team-mates, much to his frustration. Instead it was Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins who won the battle of the former strike partners. Watkins scored for the fourth Premier League away game in a row, equalling the record set by Dwight Yorke for Villa in 1998.
