Moreno shrugs off his sluggish start

IT WAs a sublime cross from £13.3million January signing Alex Moreno that set up Watkins. Yet Moreno’s day did not get off to a good start. Early on he had Emiliano Buendia barking at him when he carelessly lost the ball. Buendia had to foul Jarrod Bowen as a result and he picked up the ball and smashed it into the ground. But Moreno grew into the game and it was a pleasing day on and off the ball.

IN stoppage time, a phantom whistler fooled the fans into thinking it was full-time. Boos rang round the London Stadium. But they had all been hoodwinked. Referee Chris Kavanagh had not blown. It was a prankster. When the whistle went for real, the boos returned. This draw lifted West Ham out of the bottom three, but fans want more.
