EMMA, OTI & RYLAN’S BIG RED NOSE DAY CHALLENGE, 9PM, BBC1

-

THIS Friday is Red Nose Day, and ahead of the annual fundraising extravaganza for Comic Relief, Emma Willis, Rylan Clark and Oti Mabuse (pictured) have already been doing their bit to encourage us to donate to this year’s deserving causes — which include people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, mental health problems and food poverty, as well as victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The trio, who are used to a cosy television studio, have certainly been pushing themselves well outside their comfort zone as they set out to summit Cairn Gorm, the sixth highest peak in the British Isles. Climbing the 1,245m Scottish mountain in clement summer conditions is fairly straightforward, but — as our intrepid threesome discover soon after striking out from the village of Braemar, to the strains of the Ballater & District Pipe Band — tackling Cairn Gorm’s icy, windswept heights in the depths of winter is a whole other story. They’ve barely reached the foothills before dangerous weather blows in and puts the entire expedition in jeopardy. ‘I don’t like being cold at all,’ admits Oti. ‘What am I even doing here?’. It’s truly a challenge of a lifetime — tune in to find out if they were successful.
