SPURS SACK SKINNER AFTER HORROR RUN

- KATHRYN BATTE

TOTTENHAM have sacked women’s manager Rehanne Skinner after a run of nine straight league defeats. Spurs, who play Leicester in a crucial fixture tomorrow, are just two points above the bottom of the table and are fighting for their top-flight survival.

Their defeat against Liverpool on Sunday proved to be the final straw. The sacking was revealed last night by MailOnline. Assistant coach Vicky Jepson will take the team against relegation rivals Leicester tomorrow night.

Skinner joined the club in November 2020 after Karen Hills and Juan Carlos Amoros were sacked following a run of poor results.

Spurs avoided relegation and enjoyed a successful 2021-22 season, with the club finishing fifth, their highest position in the WSL.

The club broke the British women’s transfer record to sign Bethany England from Chelsea in January. But injuries to other key players and a toughrun of fixtures has contributed to their poor run of form.
