Blackpool find their six appeal

- BLACKPOOL 6 QPR 1 WILL BECKMAN

GARETH AINSWORTH was humiliated by the seaside last night as his QUEENS PARK RANGERS side shipped six goals at Championship strugglers BLACKPOOL.

Jerry Yates’ third-minute penalty got the evening off to the worst possible start for Ainsworth, appointed as QPR boss last month, before Andrew Lyons and Curtis Nelson put the home side, third from bottom, 3-0 up inside 14 minutes. Jordan Thorniley made it four after 36 minutes before Chris Martin gave the visitors a sliver of hope before half-time. Lyons added his second three minutes after the restart before Kenneth Dougall capped off a memorable night for Mick McCarthy’s Blackpool by adding a sixth two minutes from time. QPR have won only once in 14 league games and are seven points clear of the relegation zone.

MIDDLESBROUGH’S automatic promotion bid was dented as they were held at home by STOKE. Chuba Akpom put Boro ahead but Ki- Jana hoever levelled before half-time. And Chris Wilder won his first home game as WATFORD manager. The hornets beat BIRMINGHAM 3-0 with goals from Imran Louza, Keinan Davis and Britt Assombalonga.
