Jeremy praises the famous five
FIVE Cabinet ministers were singled out for praise by Jeremy Hunt and given their own favourable description.
First, Ben Wallace was referred to as ‘our persuasive Defence Secretary’ in a reference to his public demands for greater investment in the military.
His junior minister Johnny Mercer, whom Mr Wallace himself slapped down in another row over spending, was called ‘the equally persuasive minister for Veterans Affairs’.
Michael Gove was ‘our formidable Levelling Up Secretary’ and Grant Shapps ‘our energetic Energy Security Secretary’. Mel Stride was called ‘the everdiligent Work and Pensions Secretary’.
There was no mention of the Home Secretary, Health Secretary or Justice Secretary as no major announcements affected their departments.
