Count on me! Chancellor hails free childcare plan
SELLING the benefits of his first Budget was child’s play for the Chancellor yesterday as he visited a nursery after setting out his plan for the economy.
Mr Hunt met children at Busy Bees Battersea Nursery in south London after announcing a major expansion of free childcare to children aged between nine months and two whose parents work.
Throwing himself into the activities, he gave one child a high-five and helped another with sticking down shapes on a piece of paper.
His policy is likely to be popular with the youngsters’ parents, who will be able to claim 30 hours a week of free care as part of moves to get more mothers back into the workforce.
Busy Bees Battersea Nursery takes children from when they are babies up to pre-school age.
