YOU’LL know the name Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. After the Iranian-British charity worker was sentenced to five years in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison in 2016, her husband, Richard, kept her in the public eye, running a fearless campaign to have his wife freed. Five years in the making, this film follows Richard as he fights to bring Nazanin home — and reunite her with their daughter, Gabriella (pictured). Nazanin was leaving Iran with her then baby daughter to fly to London when she was arrested at Tehran Airport and charged with spying. The story just didn’t add up and, of course, we now know there was much more to it. Part love story, part political thriller, this film follows Richard as he begins his campaign to free Nazanin and to learn why she was targeted in the first place. It’s an incredible story of love, resilience and persistence, coloured by the revelations, now public, that Nazanin’s fate was sealed by a huge British-Iranian arms deal in the 1970s. Step inside the nightmare as cameras stay close to Richard and Gabriella, and gain unprecedented access to Nazanin in prison in Iran.
