THE Isle of Wight is famous for its many festivals, and this week, we get a ringside view for the Ryde Carnival and its grand procession — it’s been running since 1887, and is the oldest in the UK. We shake a leg with an all-female Morris dancing troupe at the island’s Steam Fair, and the party atmosphere continues when we meet some of the volunteer crew of Bembridge RNLI before they head out to the annual Scooter Rally at Sandown Airport.
