Power of praise
PARENTS have been told by nursery schools to stop calling their daughters ‘princess’ or ‘tomboy’ (Mail).
i continually tell my two granddaughters, aged nine and six, how pretty and clever they are.
i brought up my two daughters to believe in themselves and always praised their achievements.
have they been damaged by this non- woke approach? one is a chartered accountant with a PhD in physics and the other is a lawyer. They are confident, happy and welladjusted young women.
When i was a teacher, i praised the children no matter how small their achievements may have been.
how very sad that people who believe themselves to be experts are
so ignorant of the emotional needs of children.
