YOU have to go back to early this century for the last French-trained winner of the Paddy Power Stayers’ but it was a good one in Francois Doumen-trained Baracouda who was successful in 2002 and 2003. The Cross-Channel raiders have their best chance since then this afternoon with GOLD TWEET.

The six-year-old trained by Gabriel Leenders made quite an impression in the Cleeve Hurdle on Cheltenham Trials day in January when he travelled very smoothly before kicking away from Dashel Drasher after the last hurdle.

The Irish runners add an extra dimension of competition here but he looks up for the challenge.
