DAVID BOWIE: ROCK ’N’ ROLL WITH ME
by Geoff MacCormack
(ACC Art Books £30, 240 pp)
GEOFF MacCORMACK met David Jones at primary school in Bromley, Kent, when they were both eight years old. They lived just a few doors away from each other and bonded over a shared love of music. A lifelong friendship ndship ensued ensued. This stunningly illustrated memoir charts that friendship with the man who later became David Bowie. It contains nearly 150 photos taken by MacCormack, some never seen before: from touring the Ziggy Stardust shows to Bowie’s first major film, The Man Who Fell To Earth (pictured on set). There’s even a witty and heart-warming afterword written by Bowie himself in 2007, which makes it all the more poignant. MacCormack lost his friend in 2016.
