FRANKENSTEIN LIVES!, 9PM, RADIO 4
MARY SHELLEY breathed strange life into Victor Frankenstein and his monstrous creation back in 1818, and it seems they cannot die. Ever since Shelley wrote her horror novel for a bet, the story has gripped imaginations and sent shivers down spines the world over. Christopher Frayling looks at the legacy of Frankenstein and plays some creepy archive recordings. He also considers the way each generation seems hellbent on creating its own version of Shelley’s story, hearing from guests including the film director John Landis, horror writer Kim Newman, and Hammer Studios star Madeline Smith.
