Plant of the week NARCISSUS ‘THALIA’
YOU CAN keep your jolly yellow daffodils. If I could only plant one narcissus in my garden, it would be the elegant, ghostly white N. ‘Thalia’. When I designed a woodland border for my parents, I stuck to this and ‘White Triumphator’ tulips, planting a hundred bulbs of each for a dramatic effect.
It’s a ‘ triandrus’ cultivar, sometimes called Angel’s Tears, with two milky-white flowers to each stem.
It will grow in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, and is a great cut flower. The bulbs should be planted out between September and November to flower in mid-spring.
