‘ Yes, I’m 53, but as emotionally articulate as a 16-year-old boy! ’

DATING PAST

SINCE my divorce three years ago, i’ve been excellent at avoiding long- term relationships. That said, i do use the apps and think their bad reputation is unfair. i have found them a great way to meet women.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

NO. i got to the restaurant ten minutes early but i didn’t have to wait around as Tracey was already at our table.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

TRACEY was wearing a shiny, silky orange shirt. She looked very smart and i thought she was attractive, although i didn’t compliment her on what she was wearing. i had on a pair of grey jeans and checked yellow lumberjack shirt. i’m a bit of a hippy — i only own jeans.

EASY TO TALK TO?

I ALREADY knew i was having steak as was Tracey. We talked about all sorts. Tracey has a salon in essex, she’s also got property in Thailand. i’m done with buying and selling businesses, that’s why i’m currently looking to buy property overseas, so it was interesting to trade experiences.

Tracey is one of those women who talks to you which was really refreshing.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

I DON’T think so, no.

DID SPARKS FLY?

NOT really, i’m afraid i didn’t feel any chemistry. lots of factors are against us — we’re on different paths and live a few hundred miles apart.

after spending the afternoon together, i conclude Tracey would make a nice friend but not a romantic partner for me.

SEE HER AGAIN?

WE BOTH love elvis, so i did say if Tracey wanted to go to Memphis again i’d be happy to go with her.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

I’VE got no idea. When it comes to knowing if a woman is attracted to me, i’m sadly as emotionally articulate as any other 53-yearold man with the mind of a 16-year-old boy.

We spent three hours together and left when Tracey’s driver arrived.

WOULD YOUR FRIENDS LIKE HER?

I CAN’T see why not. although it’s hard to tell if someone is a genuine and nice person from only one date.
