TELEVISION presenter Angela Scanlon is set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Irish star, who hosts BBC2’s Your Home Made Perfect, is the first celebrity lined up for the show’s 21st series, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Ms Scanlon, 3 , found fame on the BBC’s One Show before being given her own show in 201 , turning her into a household name.

A BBC source said: ‘It is hard to get the mix right for Strictly every year, but producers think that Angela is perfect for it.

‘She is popular with the BBC’s viewers, but unlike many celebrities she doesn’t have a dancing background so Strictly fans will be able to go on a really enjoyable journey with her.

‘Every year the producers like to have a glamourous yet wholesome TV presenter as the fans love them.’ As well as being a TV star Ms Scanlon is also a successful podcaster, hosting Thanks A Million, which has hundreds of thousands of fans.

The presenter is understood to have been approached to appear on the programme before, but the timing wasn’t right.

She is married to Irish eco-entrepreneur Roy Horgan, and is thought unlikely to be hit by the so-called Strictly curse which has ended numerous relationships since the show began in 2004. The couple, who married in 2014 in a fairytale ceremony in County Wicklow, just outside Dublin, have two daughters, Ruby, four, and Marnie, one, and live in north London.

Other celebrities to have been tipped for this year’s Strictly include actor and model Bobby Brazier, 20, the son of late reality star Jade Goody.

Like previous years, the show is expected to return to screens in September.
