Regret letting this eco clown have a stall at the Oxford freshers’ fair?

- By Olivia Christie and Rhiannon James

JUST Stop Oil eco-zealots sprayed orange paint over the University of Oxford’s iconic Radcliffe Camera building yesterday, days after they were allowed a stall at the university’s freshers’ fair.

Oxford’s student union allowed Daniel Knorr, who stormed Lord’s cricket ground during the Ashes Test series this summer, to man the stand and recruit students to join the group.

Knorr, 21, has claimed responsibility for vandalising the main entrance to the 18th-century building alongside 18-year-old Noah Crane.

The pair used a fire extinguisher to spray the building, which houses the history faculty library.

The two protesters were arrested at the scene and had their orange paint seized by police.

JSO described the spray painting of the building in Oxford city centre as ‘ resistance against the UK Government’s plans to license new oil and gas projects’.

Knorr, a biochemistry student at the university, said: ‘I am taking action to resist the destruction of my generation.

‘Oxford academics are fully aware of the scale of the climate crisis: this year Oxford scientists said that in a few years, climate breakdown will routinely expose people to unsurvivable heat and humidity.

‘Hundreds of millions of people will be forced to move, or die. This is mass murder. It is genocide.’

Knorr last week posted 17,000 JSO leaflets to Oxford students via their college pigeon holes.

Elsewhere, a third student George Simonson, 23, daubed paint on a glass facade at Exeter University.

It follows a Mail investigation that exposed JSO’s plot to recruit undergraduates. Education Secretary Gillian Keegan warned last month that students risk ruining their futures by joining JSO protests.

‘In a letter to university vice-chancellors, she said they must prepare for ‘ heightened risk of unlawful activity’ on campuses.
