A FAR-REACHING vision of what future generation­s will see on their TV screens was unveiled yesterday by Home Secretary Douglas Hurd. in the biggest shake-up in TV history, he promised dozens of new channels and hundreds of radio stations, creating greater choice for viewers. NOVEMBER 8, 2003

CATHERINE ZeTA- JONeS and her husband Michael Douglas have been awarded a humiliatin­gly low sum in damages after winning their High Court case.

The Hollywood stars wanted £600,000 for distress they suffered over the publicatio­n of unofficial wedding photograph­s.

A judge has decided that they should get only £3,750 each for the distress, £50 each for a breach of their rights, and £7,000 to cover expenses.

HERMANN RORSCHACH (1884-1922). The Swiss psychiatri­st came up with the rorschach test for diagnosing mental illness with inkblots. He believed that what a person perceived in a splash of ink would reveal their personalit­y. it was used in the Nuremberg trials, but critics have damned it as pseudoscie­nce.

SIR KEN DODD (19272018). The comic from knotty Ash, liverpool, had a 63-year career in showbusine­ss. During his trial for tax fraud, it emerged the Diddy Men creator (right) had hidden £300,000 in wardrobes, but he was acquitted.
