The teenager, whose mother is s actress Katie Holmes, was pictured d with her birthday flowers in New York k on Wednesday as she stepped d out with a friend.
Her father was not expected to attend her party last night due to filming commitments for r the latest Mission: Impossible. The Top Gun star was pictured this s week filming in London for the next t instalment of the action franchise. Last night, sources told the Mail that Suri has decided not to speak to her father, who split up with her mother in 2012.
The insider said: ‘Tom does not exist to her. Suri will not have any contact with her father, despite being 18, and even if he called, she would not answer. He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything. ‘She feels that she has one parent and that is her mother.’
While Suri has yet to cement her plans for her future, she appears to have ruled out the career that turned her parents into household names.
‘She plans on remaining a private citizen,’ the source said.
Cruise and Ms Holmes were married in 2006 but Katie filed for divorce five and a half years later. There was speculation at the time that Cruise’s devotion to Scientology had played a role in the break-up.
Ms Holmes was awarded sole custody of Suri and made it clear she would not allow Suri to be caught up in the religion.
