What teacher accused of having sex with boy, 16, allegedly said to him
A TEACHER took the virginity of her 16-year-old pupil before tearfully telling him she couldn’t ‘go it alone’ when she became pregnant, a court heard.
Rebecca Joynes, 30, is alleged to have had ‘secret’ sex with the schoolboy – known as Boy B – at least 30 times over 18 months.
Manchester Crown Court heard that the maths teacher ‘brazenly’ pursued the relationship while awaiting trial for ‘grooming’ and having sex with another 15-yearold pupil – known as Boy A.

view tapes shown to the jury, Boy B described losing his virginity to her at her luxury Manchester apartment.
‘Obviously, it was my first time, so I was nervous,’ the youngster said. But he said the teacher reassured him afterwards: ‘It’s your first time, it was great.’
Boy B claimed Joynes told him she had a condition which meant she was unlikely to ever get pregnant.
But on a ‘ date night’ Joynes sprinkled rose petals around her flat and set up a sex game of ‘ surprises’ for the boy that culminated in her revealing she was pregnant.
‘At the end it was a baby grow,’ the boy said. ‘It said something like, “Best Dad” (on it) and I was like, “What the f***!” She started crying and I started crying, because we were undecided whether to get rid of it or not.
‘That was probably the lowest point, we were irresponsible. I thought, “What the f*** am I going to do?” I can’t hide a kid. I had hid the relationship for 18 months from my parents.’
Recalling the moment to police, he added: ‘She was crying. She was saying, “I don’t know if I can do this on my own.”’
Joynes, who has been wearing a pink baby’s bonnet tucked into her trousers in the dock, wiped away tears as the witness said he wanted ‘the best for my child’.
Boy B said he ‘did love’ Joynes but the relationship soured after she became jealous and controlling. He said eventually he realised that he’d ‘ sacrificed 18 months for a paedophile’.
Boy B said: ‘I would say to her, “You’re a weirdo, you need help. You’re a nonce. You should go and find someone your own age, you are pretty enough.”
‘Now I think about it, it was emotional abuse. She just basically mentally abused me. It was mental warfare.’
Joynes denies six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, including two while being a person in a position of trust, between October 2021 and July 2022. The trial continues.
