Surely Samantha cannot be serious?

- ANNA DUNCAN, Shepperton, Surrey.

I HAVE to disagree somewhat with Samantha Brick (Mail). Younger women drivers frequently do not seem to understand braking distances; a glance in the rear-view mirror and I can often almost see the colour of their eyes. Unfortunately, for some years now, young people of both sexes have been taught to pass a driving test, not to drive properly.

COLIN HARDING, Eastleigh, Hants. ACCORDING to samantha Brick, she is the world’s most beautiful woman, most amazing lover and now the best driver on the road. I pity her poor French husband.

H. DAVIES, Llangefni, Anglesey.

WE all know it’s tongue-in-cheek by this vainglorious egotist. But does she? She is the prettiest woman in France, with the most perfect husband, has a far superior sex life to those of her readers, a fabulous house and is a brilliant driver. Enough is enough.

STEPHEN MORTIMER, Fleet, Hants. tHANK you, samantha, for telling the truth: that women can actually drive and, lacking testosterone, may be marginally safer than blokes. In the 1970s and 1980s I had qualifications including HGV 1 (articulated vehicles) and PsV (buses and coaches). I am now a little old lady of 80 and still driving.

L. CARDWELL, Buckfastleigh, Devon.

I ALSO consider myself a ‘brilliant’ driver, having been taught to drive by the racing driver Graham Hill. As a former editor of Taxi magazine, I also participated in many off-road skidpan and rally driving courses. But we were a different species back in the 1980s.

JANET GORDON, Takeley, Essex. LOVELY to hear from samantha Brick again! Pure genius.

May I suggest a few more ideas?

1. I’m such a fantastic cook, my dinner guests choke with envy.

2. I have learnt to speak French so much better than the locals.

3. I’m so entirely fabulous that people refuse to believe it.
