A FILM about Donald Trump has shocked audiences over a scene in which he is depicted raping his then wife Ivana.

The Apprentice, which premiered at Cannes last night, stars Sebastian Stan as a young Mr Trump.

Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova plays Ivana, who died in 2022, while Succession star Jeremy Strong portrays his fixer Roy Cohn.

The film tells the story of the end of Mr Trump’s first marriage, and shows Ms Trump offering him a book about how to be a better lover.

Stan’s character is shown telling her that he no longer finds her attractive before raping her and then asking: ‘Did I find your Gspot?’ Ms Trump stated that the entrepreneur raped her in her 1990 divorce deposition, claiming that he pushed her to the floor and pulled out several handfuls of her hair.

Mr Trump denied the allegation and dismissed his wife’s version of the incident as ‘obviously false’.

She later said she did not mean she was literally ‘raped’, but rather that she had felt violated.

In a 1993 statement, she said: ‘On one occasion during 1989, Mr Trump and I had marital relations in which he behaved very differently towards me than he had during our marriage... I referred to this as a rape, but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense.’

Mr Trump has not made any public comment on The Apprentice.

■ Mr Trump’s former personal lawyer admitted that he stole money from the ex-president last night.

Michael Cohen told the 77-yearold’s hush money trial that he stole $60,000 (£47,000) from his real estate firm, the Trump Organisation.
