It’s Zara Poppins!

...and the rain won’t stop her fashion parade as she wears handy heel caps

SWEET in powder pink with a sherbet hat, she was the muchneeded spoonful of sugar on a grey and dreary day.

And, as Zara Tindall held aloft her umbrella Mary Poppins- style, she showed off a rather practical accessory which the nanny herself might have admired: a pair of plastic heel covers.

The 43-year-old was well prepared for the Buckingham Palace garden party yesterday, putting plastic caps on her Emmy London pink suede stilettos to prevent them sinking into the soggy lawn.

She was accompanied by her husband, former England rugby star Mike Tindall, 45, and was one of several cousins to join Prince William at the party.

It is not uncommon for the monarch to ask members of the Royal Family to host a garden party each summer.

And this year it fell to the Prince of Wales, who it is understood personally asked his cousins to join him.

Princess Beatrice – bright in a buttoned cerise dress – and Princess Eugenie attended, along with Peter Phillips, Zara’s brother. As the rain continued to fall, William, 42, joked it was ‘perfect weather for swimming’ while he chatted to 8,000 guests, who had been invited to celebrate the work of volunteers, military personnel and members of the public.

He chivalrously held up a large umbrella for many of his guests who had failed to predict the awful conditions.

And it seems Ms Tindall had a rival Mary Poppins among the guests – as Reverend Squadron Leader Chrissie Lacey, of RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, had William in stitches when she produced a bag of cookies – freshly baked at 5am – from her handbag.
