Trump: I have pretty severe things we’re thinking about

Fury at North Korea missile test

The US President made the threat to Kim Jong-un’s regime after it provoked worldwide outrage by firing a weapon capable of hitting America. Mr Trump, in a wideranging speech in Poland on his first presidential trip to Europe, said: “They are behaving in a very, very dangerous manner and something will have to be done about it. “We’ll just take a look at what happens over the coming weeks and months. I have pretty severe things that we’re thinking about. “That doesn’t mean we’ll do them.” Mr Trump urged other nations to challenge the Pyongyang regime over its “very, very bad behaviour”. He added: “Something will have to be done about it.” Foreign Secretary

Boris Johnson admitted that North Korea’s nuclear ballistic ambitions “need to be contained”. He said: “They are unreasonable. Our Chinese friends are in the lead in trying to persuade the North Koreans they are embarked on a path of folly.” Mr Trump, who also called on Europe to spend more on Nato “for its own protection”, is set to discuss the North Korea crisis with Russian President Vladimir Putin at today’s G20 summit in Hamburg, their first face-toface meeting. Links between Moscow and Mr Trump are tense amid claims the Kremlin interfered in the US election. Yesterday, the US leader accused Russia of “destabilising behaviour” but when asked if they had meddled in the White House race, he said: “Nobody really knows for sure.” German police fired water cannon and pepper spray to disperse protesters last night in Hamburg after a group of black-clad demonstrators threw objects at riot officers. Police expect 100,000 protesters from around Europe, claiming the G20 has failed to solve issues of world peace.
