Which snoring cures REALLY work? Nasal spray made big difference

-

Emma and I try to go to bed together but invariably I fall asleep and she pokes me to tell me to shut up because I’m snoring. We try again and the same thing happens so I end up on the sofa.

Some nights I don’t even bother to get into bed because I know what’s going to happen.

Apparently I make a low moaning noise. I am shattered all the time because it keeps waking me. And, for obvious reasons, Emma is too.

We recently went on holiday to Spain and were in a hotel room so couldn’t get away from one another at night. Emma was posting all over Facebook about how hideous my snoring is. We argued all week.

My dad has severe sleep apnoea and has to wear a THE NHS recently crushed reports from America that there’s a link between snoring and Alzheimer’s disease later in life. But despite that, snoring still causes untold problems for the one in four of us.

There’s tiredness, irritability and a lack of concentration due to poor sleep quality – not to mention a grumpy partner who has to lie next to us!

We asked four noisy sleepers to try out the most popular anti-snoring products on the market to see if they could create a silent night... By Alison Palmer breathing mask. I’ve been tested for it twice but I don’t have it.

I was told to lose weight which might help but I don’t think I need to – well, no more than a stone anyway. I tried the pillow for a few days first but, apart from being one of the most comfortable pillows I’ve ever slept on, it didn’t do anything about my snoring. I was dubious about the spray but anything is worth a try. You just squirt it into each nostril, while inhaling deeply, just before bed. It’s not at all unpleasant.

And I am happy to say it worked – quite a bit anyway. I am clearly sleeping better and not waking myself up as much because I am so much less tired.

But the real joy is there have been some nights Emma and I have slept a whole night together. I certainly snore less and definitely not as loudly. The spray gave me a huge improvement and it’s not a bad price for how long it lasts.
