Ticket list of shame reveals 400 cautions a day

MORE than 400 parking tickets are issued to drivers every day in Northern Ireland.

A list of shame has been revealed showing the number of offenders in 67 towns has been published.

The study showed that 60,979 tickets were handed out in total over the sixmonth period.

And with a charge of £90 per ticket, they had a potential to earn the Government more than a £1million.

The highest number of pesky parkers caught over the period were in Belfast with 18,127 tickets issued, Derry with 2,828 and Lisburn with 1,632.

And 12 towns got through the six months with no penalty charges being issued at all.

They were Ahoghill, Ballykelly, Castlewell­an,

Cullybacke­y, Dromore,

Gilford, Kesh, Newtownste­wart,

PARKING LIST OF SHAME

Portballin­trae, Richhill and Tandragee.

The informatio­n has been revealed by Department for Infrastruc­ture who carried out the study taking details from January to June 2017.

A total of 43,493 charges were issued across the country for on-street parking during the period and another 17,486 were issued for off-street parking.

Each parking ticket charge is £90 but if it is paid within 14 days of being issued a 50% discount is applied.
