LOUISE Redknapp has said she and hubby Jamie are focusing on caring for their kids as their marriage suffers “hard times”.

The couple, who have sons Charley, 13, and Beau, eight, have been dogged by rumours of a split in the past few months

And Louise, 42, yesterday opened up about their situation.

She told Eamonn Holmes on This Morning: “I think it’s been so heavily documented, of course we all go through hard times. My priority and his priority are our children and protecting them and keeping as much of it as private as possible and loving them and putting them first. That’s really what we’re focusing on.”

Former pop star Louise wed retired footballer turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie, 44, in 1998. Their troubles were said to have started after her gruelling training for Strictly Come Dancing last year meant they spent lots of time apart.

Jamie’s work also meant he was frequently away from the family home.

Louise came second in last year’s Strictly and said that and her role in musical Cabaret helped her cope with problems at home. She said: “Going back to work has been a real saviour for me.”

Louise’s friends previously insisted it was time for her to enjoy the limelight, with one saying: “She let Jamie’s career take centre stage for years. She doesn’t want to be known as Louise Redknapp, wife of footballer Jamie. She wants to be known for her own talent.”
