Roger’s crossing the Waters to Us

Pink Floyd icon brings sold-out tour to Dublin

- BY ANITA MCSORLEY

PINK Floyd legend Roger Waters is bringing his Us + Them tour to Dublin for the first time and says: “It will be spectacular.”

The 74-year-old will perform in Dublin’s 3Arena on Tuesday, June 26, as part of his European dates.

The tour title is derived from the 1974 track Us And Them, from the multi-million selling Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon.

Fans can expect highlights from Waters’ amazing body of work, including much-loved Floyd classic albums Wish You Were Here and The Wall, as well as his latest solo album Is This The Life We Really Want?

The bassist is regarded as an alt-rock pioneer and is famous for sonic and visual experimentation, and turning “rock and roll into theatre on the grandest scale”. His world famous Desert Trip in 2016 featured the biggest quadraphonic sound system ever built and his latest tour promises to be just as good, with new technology to create a truly jaw-dropping spectacle.

Talking about what’s to come, Roger said: “We are going to take a new show on the road.

“It’ll be a mixture of stuff from my long career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably 80% will be old material and 20% new, but it will be connected by a general theme.

“It will be a cool show. It’ll be spectacular like all my shows.”

The European leg of the Us + Them tour comes on the back of phenomenal success in the States, with 63 sold-out concerts.

I t will be Waters’ first European tour since The Wall – which ran from 2010 to 2013 and became the highest grossing by any solo artist, with four million fans at 219 shows.

Tickets go on sale next Thursday from Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
