WHAT WE’RE ALL SAYING FIONA PARKER Sick way to treat terminally ill NHS THE ISSUE

-

I implore everyone to write to their MP in an effort to save the NHS as time is running out.

This Government has slowly destroyed the service since coming to power through lack of funding, undermining morale, increasing waiting times and failing to recruit staff.

Don’t be fooled by Jeremy Hunt’s spin on government figures – the proof is what is happening daily in hospitals, doctors’ surgeries and ambulance services.

The only thing stalling the move to privatisation is the dedication of the staff, who struggle to do everything they can to keep the service going. But how long can this be maintained? Not long, I fear.

Vince Mcallister, Ely, Cambs

It is an utter disgrace that the Tories are running the NHS into the ground as it nears its 70th birthday next year.

The hard-up service is straining at the seams and watchdogs have warned the crisis is deepening. Meanwhile, there is a 40% increase in doctor and dentist vacancies.

This is a national disgrace and Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt should be sacked because he’s not fit for the job. We need to save our NHS before it’s too late.

Dave Mellor Warrington Cheshire

It is disgusting what this Tory Government is doing to the NHS. I honestly don’t know how its MPS can sleep at night.

I guess it’s alright for them – they have private healthcare – but the rest of us need the NHS, whether for prescriptions, dental treatment or hospital care.

So come on, Theresa May, for once in your life do the decent thing and support our hardworking doctors and nurses.

Janet Davies, Falmouth, Cornwall When the Labour Party gave us our wonderful NHS in 1948 the Tories were absolutely furious. So it seems paradoxical for a Tory Health Secretary to don an NHS badge.

Only a Labour Government will ensure that the service remains in the public’s hands.

Eric Thorpe, Salford, Gtr Manchester

It’s good to see the Daily Mirror fighting for our NHS, but you have to wonder what’s happening with this Tory Government. We have plots to oust May, and bungling Boris causing trouble, yet Jeremy Hunt is still in his job.

Mick Streets, Chesterfield, Derbys

Why is everyone surprised at the near collapse of the NHS? It has been the Tory dream ever since it came into being in 1948.

Fruit can be picked off their money tree to keep them in power, but not to keep this precious institution alive.

Arthur Poole

Macclesfield, Cheshire

The Tories want the NHS to fail so they can fully privatise it. That is why Jeremy Hunt is still in his job – so he can oversee its demise.
