Price of wine to soar after poor harvest
THE price of wine is set to soar after a report warned worldwide production will plummet to a 56-year low.
Poor weather in France, Spain and Italy, and wildfires in California have hit harvests, sending global supplies tumbling by 8%.
The International Organisation of Vine and Wine said production of Italian labels is expected to slump by 23% compared with last year. French wines are in line for a 19% fall and Spanish 15%. It expects the smallest European harvest since 1961.
