Farage forced to back down over slur against anti-fascists
ANTI-FASCIST group Hope Not Hate has won a legal battle with Nigel Farage after he accused them of being violent.
Interviewed on LBC Radio after 12 people died in an attack in Berlin in December, Mr Farage was quizzed on a tweet by Brendan Cox, husband of murdered Labour MP Jo.
He said of Mr Cox: “He backs organisations like Hope not Hate, who masquerade as being lovely and peaceful, but actually pursue violent and undemocratic means.”
The EX-UKIP boss had been due at the High Court today after the group sued. Accepting a settlement, he issued a statement saying: “I am happy to acknowledge Hope not Hate does not tolerate or pursue violent or undemocratic behaviour.”
Boss Nick Lowles said: “We are avowedly peaceful. It was deeply damaging to our work.”
