Woman’s horror injuries as lit firework thrown into car
Appeal after Halloween attack
A WOMAN was left with severe injuries to her arms and legs after a lit firework was thrown into a car.
The PSNI is appealing for information over the attack in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, days before Halloween.
Officers have released shocking images of the injuries.
The firework smashed the side window of the car before rebounding around the car and exploding inside it.
The woman sustained burns to her arms and legs and cuts from flying glass as a result.
The incident happened in the car park of Greenvale
Hotel on October 29 at around 10.45pm. Local Sinn Fein Councillor John Mcnamee said young people need to be aware of the dangers posed when using fireworks.
He told the Mirror: “This is a reckless use of fireworks and young people need to know the dangers that come with them.
“I would urge anyone who has information on this incident to contact the police and ensure the likes of it doesn’t happen again.”
A PSNI spokesman said: “Anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Magherafelt on 101.”
