TV bosses going wild for Stanley

-

ITV could be lining up animal lover Stanley Johnson to be a new star.

They know wildlife programmes such as Blue Planet are box office gold and reckon Stanley’s warmth and knowledge could really appeal to audiences.

Well-travelled Stanley, 77, is an expert on animals close to extinction.

A TV source said: “When he gets back there will definitely be discussions about more TV. He is very likeable on screen and has huge knowledge on the environment, particularly gorillas.

“He spoke a lot about the environment in camp.”

Stanley told Good Morning Britain his son Boris was “thrilled” with his efforts in camp. Stanley joked: “Is he still PM? I’m sorry, still Foreign Secretary? He said, ‘Good show, Dad, everyone’s rooting for you. I’ve had messages from all the kids. I don’t think I let them down, I don’t think I let the country down.

“The best man or woman will win.” Stanley also told of his surprise at having 8,000 Twitter followers, saying until recently he had just five people following him, all family members.

The former MEP, who lost nine kilos in camp, said: “I feel totally rejuvenated.”

Backing Toff to win. He added: “I could have been her great grandfather I think! Grandfather anyway.”

ITV had no comment when asked about the prospect of working with Stanley again.
