BRADY SURGERY A SUCCESS

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

ROBBIE BRADY’S knee surgery has been declared a success – but Jeff Hendrick says his pal will be ‘gutted’ to miss the season.

Brady tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during Burnley’s defeat to Leicester City last weekend.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche said yesterday: “The surgeon was very happy with the work that was done.

“I’ve spoken to Robbie and he’s fine. He understands it and he’s been talked through the plan of attack from now, leading to when he’s fit.“

Dyche did not put a timeframe on Brady’s recovery but typically it can be four to six months.

“He will be moving very quickly,” said Dyche.

“We look forward to seeing him, first of all just moving around the training ground and getting on with it, and then obviously when he’s fit.”

Ireland team-mate Hendrick insists Brady’s, right, absence is a major blow to Burnley who are riding high in seventh in the Premier League.

The pair have been team-mates since their schoolboy days and Hendrick said: “He doesn’t seem too down.

“He was gutted to get the injury, but he quickly moved on and was focused on getting the surgery and getting himself right. He’s strong mentally so I’m sure he’ll be okay.”

“He knows it’s going to be a good few months but he’s focused on getting himself back fit, stronger and ready to go.

“It’s definitely going to be a blow. You can see, especially in his last few performances, the confidence and the way he was playing.”
