Moyes fears Eden could send Hammers down the pan: ‘We must follow him everywhere.. even to the toilet!’

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

DAVID MOYES wants Eden Hazard followed everywhere today – even to the toilet.

The only problem for the West Ham boss is that he isn’t sure he has anyone capable of doing it to Chelsea’s star man.

“There are occasions when I would consider man-marking, and Hazard is a player who would definitely come into that category,” said Moyes. “I’ve done it in the past with other players, like David Silva at Manchester City. At Everton, I might have put Jack Rodwell on him.

“The problem is, I don’t know if I’ve got someone who is that type of player to be a man-marker. “You’ve heard the saying, ‘If he goes to the toilet, follow him’. I don’t know if I have that.

“It needs to be people who are athletic and quick. You say to them, ‘Don’t you think about doing anything else, this is your job because he’s that important’. “Looking through the squad we’ve got, I couldn’t really identify anyone who could do that but, tactically, it would be a good idea to stop him.”

As well as how to deal with playmaker Hazard, Moyes has other difficult decisions closer to home over the Hammers’ No.1 spot.

Keeper Joe Hart was ineligible to play against Manchester City last week and Adrian impressed on replacing him.

The Spaniard could now get a run in the team and it has been

suggested that, if he does, the Hammers could even consider cutting short Hart’s loan move.

But Moyes said: “I would not get into that conversation.

“I don’t think we could work here without two top goalkeepers, because we have a couple of cup games and an incredibly busy period. What if we got an injury, who would we play?

“I would definitely want the two

goalkeepers.” The Hammers boss knows Hart has to play if he wants to be in goal for England at the World Cup finals next summer. And asked if, as a Scot whose side are in the bottom three, he cared about the Three Lions’ goalkeeping situation, he laughed, and said: “Now you’re making me think,” before adding: “I was really proud at Everton when Wayne Rooney made his debut for England. “Those sorts of things gave me great pleasure.

“If I can get players in the England team, then I am thrilled to do that.”
