We Kenna put match off..again
THE Ulster Council will put today’s Donegal v Armagh Mckenna Cup semi-final back 24 hours if necessary to make sure the game is played this weekend.
Pitch inspections will take place at 9.30 this morning in both Ballybofey and the Athletic Grounds ahead of tonight’s clash.
If Ballybofey isn’t able to stage the game, it will be moved to Armagh – but if neither are available it’ll be held in Ballybofey tomorrow at 2pm when the weather is expected to be milder.
The game was originally pencilled in for Wednesday but had to be called off due to the snow, the second time the two counties had games called off in the competition.
Donegal leaked 19 scores against Monaghan when that game was eventually played at Clones last weekend, but they still went through to the semi-finals as the best runner-up across the three groups.
New boss Declan Bonner wants the team to play attacking football but admits: “It’s a balancing act. We are trying to play a bit further up the pitch.
“We are going to concede scores there’s no doubt about that, and we wouldn’t be happy about conceding that amount.
“But we’ve got to play on the front foot and we have a lot of good players going forward.”
Donegal start their Division One League campaign against Kerry while Armagh begin in Division Three against Sligo next weekend.
The winner will play holders Tyrone in the Mckenna final in February.
