It’s handbags as Sarah snaps
IF there was an award for Best Drama at the National Television Awards afterparty, Sarah Harding and Rebekah Vardy would have it in the bag.
The two reality stars got into a furious bust-up after Celebrity Big Brother winner Sarah, 36, dropped her handbag, which popped open, strewing its contents everywhere. As she bent down to pick it up, she was sure she saw a camera flash.
Nearby, I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Rebekah, 35, was holding her phone – and Sarah thought she was taking sneaky pictures of her.
A source tells 3am: “Sarah had to scramble around on the floor to pick up all the contents of her purse, and when she looked up, she thought Rebekah was papping her.
“She stormed over to confront Rebekah and accused her of taking photos – she was furious.
“Rebekah couldn’t believe the insinuation and angrily insisted she hadn’t even been using her phone.
“She offered to show her the phone to prove she hadn’t taken any pictures, and demanded an apology once she had proved her innocence.
“A few of their friends had to step in and intervene because they were getting really heated with one another. It caused a huge scene.” You could say it was handbags at dawn. Fortunately, no pictures of Sarah on the floor emerged, and the Girls Aloud star apologised to Rebekah and accepted there had been a misunderstanding.
“Sarah was assured there were no photos, and when she realised her mistake she held her hands up,” continues the source. “She said sorry and they went their separate ways, but they were still both raging about what had happened.” A spokeswoman for Rebekah said: “There is no problem between the two of them – it was just a misunderstanding on Sarah’s part that was swiftly cleared up.” A spokesman for Sarah did not comment.
