Warnock: Bluebirds flying now
NEIL WARNOCK has vowed to keep the good times rolling at Cardiff City after signing a new two-year deal.
Cardiff are currently second in the Championship and Warnock wants to bring his club back to the Premier League for the first time since 2013.
“It’s not a financial thing,” he said. “The challenge for me is to get my eighth promotion.
“I love it here, the fans have been brilliant and I’ve turned around the club – both on and off the field.
“It’s a lovely place to be and I want the supporters to be excited and have something to shout about. That’s what I’m in the game for.”
Cardiff are six points behind Championship leaders Wolves and look a solid bet for a play-off place – but automatic promotion is the aim.
“There are genuine people in Wales, who work hard during the week and then love watching the Bluebirds – and I want them to keep enjoying themselves,” said Warnock.
“We have no pressure on us. We were 35/1 to get in the play-offs and if you look at teams like Aston Villa, Derby, Middlesbrough and others, they’ve got all the pressure because they should be going up.”
Cardiff travel to Brentford on Saturday and Warnock added: “We know we have to be at our best to get promoted, but others will slip up and if we lose, it’s about how we react. I love the Championship and its blood and thunder.
“I wouldn’t want to change much, if we do go up. I wouldn’t be going and spending millions and millions.”
