CONVINCED HE’S BEEN CHEATING

-

Dear Coleen

I’m convinced the father of my baby has been cheating on me ever since I was pregnant.

He would go off for the whole weekend without contacting me and, even though I haven’t seen him with anyone else, friends have told me they’ve seen him with girls at clubs. I’ve also seen pictures of him with other girls among a group of friends, but I know if I ask him he’ll claim they’re just friends.

Our daughter is six months now and everything is back to normal and, when we are together, it all seems pretty perfect. He says he loves me, but I’m not happy – I still feel sad inside because I couldn’t express myself and talk to him while I was still pregnant and when he wasn’t paying me any attention.

I feel like he has made a fool out of me and he might do it again. How can I get rid of this feeling?

Coleen says

There’s no way around it I’m afraid – you have to confront it and talk to him, otherwise you’ll never get rid of that feeling. He’s the only person who can reassure you.

Explain to him how you’re feeling and what you’ve seen to make you doubt him, and ask him to be honest with you. You don’t have any evidence that he’s slept with other women, just that you’ve seen him out partying. And that’s all he might have been doing, but I’m sure that hurt while you were stuck at home heavily pregnant.

Now you have a child together, you need to know he’ll be there for you through good times and bad, and that he won’t run off partying when the going gets tough. You need that reassurance from him.

And tell him if you find out he’s cheating, you will walk away.
