DECLAN Donnelly and his wife Ali Astall say they are so excited about becoming parents they wish they could have their baby right away.

Dec, 42, looked chuffed as he and Ali spoke for the first time about how thrilled they are to be starting a family.

Beaming Dec said it was “very exciting” and confirmed that the new arrival is expected in September.

Ali, 40, glowed by his side in a silver sequinned gown that hugged her baby bump at the Bafta TV awards on Sunday.

She said: “I just wish it would come out now, that we could fast-forward to having the baby. We want to get on with it – we can’t wait.”

Dec joined fellow Britain’s Got Talent stars Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on stage to collect the show’s gong for Best Entertainment Programme.

Sadly missing was Dec’s sidekick Ant Mcpartlin, 42, in rehab following his drink-driving conviction earlier this year.

Amanda, 47, said Ant will be missed at this month’s live shows. But she added: “Dec will do a sterling job – and me and Alesha will be on hand to step in. Mand and Dec has a good ring to it!”

Ali stayed on to party with Dec and joked that she had done well to stay up so late in her glamorous outfit – adding: “Look, I’ve still got my heels on!”

But by around midnight the celebrity talent manager admitted: “I’m so tired – I need to get him home now.”
