The Only Way is the kitchen

-

CELEBRITY MASTERCHEF

BBC1, 8.30pm FOUR more famous faces (bit too generous, but we like alliteration) are battling it out for two semi-final places.

There’s cricketer Monty Panesar, Paralympian Stefanie Reid, comedian Zoe Lyons and TOWIE’S Gemma Collins.

She might be famous for nowt, but you can always rely on GC to provide entertainment. Even if it’s only winding up her fellow contestants and the head chef she’s supposed to be taking instructions from. She tackles the Pairs Challenge in the way you’d expect, by mainly ignoring her partner Stef ’s helpful suggestions and doing her own thing.

Next they’re off to British Airways’ Global Learning Academy to cook lunch for 120 employees. And it can’t be a coincidence that at no point is Gemma paired up with Monty, who – although he might not be as much of a princess – only seems to have one speed: slow.

After complaining that surely they must have machines to peel potatoes and chop veg – and no way can she do it – Gemma enlists the help of a couple of sous chefs to do most of the work while swanning around the kitchen and telling everyone to “just chill”.

It must be wonderful to live in her world, where you bodge every job, get others to do the graft, then proudly declare (and believe) you’ve “smashed the kitchen into another dimension”.

If we were one of the other three and she made it through ahead of us, I think we’d be tempted to burn the Masterchef HQ to the ground.
