Court told sicko incited sex act
A MAN assumed the identities of two TV stars to persuade children to strip for him during live webcam exchanges, a court heard.
At a plea yesterday a barrister for the PPS said Austin Quigg coerced one of the victims to carry out a sex act during a link-up.
The prosecutor told Judge Philip Babington “girls as young as six were involved, ranging up to young girls in their early and mid-teens”.
Quigg pleaded guilty to 14 charges of making indecent images of femalechildren, three counts of inciting them to engage in sexual activity and three charges of attempting to incite them to engage in sexual activity. The 28-year-old committed the offences between
2009 and 2012.
The barrister added he was detected after one of the girls went to Staffordshire Police in November 2011. She said a man told her he had indecent images of her and threatened to send them to her boyfriend, which the defendant did.
The probe switched to Northern Ireland where Quigg’s home was searched. Computers seized contained 90 indecent videos and 609 photographs of children. Almost all were at the lower level in terms of seriousness.
The court heard Quigg, of Curragh Road in Dungiven, Co Derry, sent videos in which he appeared to be a TV star to appeal to the young girls.
The defendant was released on continuing bail and will be sentenced at Derry Crown Court next Friday.
