Mi­grants call 999 in dinghy

SEVEN sus­pected il­le­gal im­mi­grants were res­cued from a dinghy in the Chan­nel af­ter call­ing 999 for help in rough waters.

HM Coast­guard and an RNLI lifeboat in­ter­cepted them two miles off Dover, Kent, yes­ter­day.

Bor­der Force said the men, aged be­tween 19 and 54, claimed to be Ira­nian.

The Home Of­fice said: “They are now be­ing in­ter­viewed by im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cials. The alarm was raised by those on board the ves­sel.”
